When you can`t sleep at night ... out of joy

Updated: Nov 23, 2022

"The Art of Fulfillment is the ability to experience not only the thrill of the chase, but also the magic of the moment, the unbridled joy of feeling truly alive." - Tony Robbins

When reading the title, you may have thought of being in love, the emotion when we feel so excited, cannot stop thinking of our new crush, with the whole world lying ahead of us. I encountered this feeling of aliveness and joy this week, after a long time of absence again, and not because I fell in love with someone, but because I fell in love with life.

It started last Monday when I had a nourishing day, and couldn`t sleep that night, although I had to wake up early again the next day. That first time, I didn`t think too much - we all have those nights we cannot sleep, can we? But then yesterday, it was the same, and I don`t know whether it was because of the green tea I drank in the afternoon (because the tiredness from last night kicked in) or more because I again felt so happy that night (and maybe it was a combination of the two). As I am writing to you this morning, with a cup of cappuccino as back-up, I feel wide awake, excited for the day (despite (or maybe unconsciously because of) a potentially difficult call scheduled later for the day).

So after the second day of staying awake, I started to think. Was there another reason why I couldn`t sleep, besides the occassional wide-awake moments we have at night? And I began to assume it may very likely be the result of my 2021 intention - to follow my heart.

After a recovery time over the Christmas holidays and spiritual rituals to let go of 2020 with a strong intention for this new year, I feel a growing sense of freedom, home, and excitement. A feeling of resonance, fulfilment, and expansiveness. As if I just woke up from a long winter sleep, seeing the first rays of sunshine, ready to go on a hunt for food or to look for my tribe, but with a set mission. While last week for me was still about letting go and processing deep pain and suffering, as if to release the last junk of my pain body, this week was a start into something new.

This week, I managed to introduce a working routine to actively work on my personal development business. Waking up early and following established routines help me get moving and growing. I set up specific times to create digital content, such as blogging. I started to explore different social media activities, such as my Stories on Instagram / Facebook with 2min life hacks. I relaunched my #mindfulmagic Newsletter and engaged with my Coaching clients. What gave me an additional boost of fulfilment was the start of a new online course I had registered last year, more out of curiosity, than strategic consciousness. The course, co-led by my amazing friend in cooperation with "The Portfolio Collective", is called "Catapult" to help launch a portfolio career in 30 days.

Already on our first group call last Monday, the energy was captivating, stimulating, and inspiring. So many like-minded people joined from all over the world, to learn and seek support in one common goal, that is, to launch their dream career path. And for this, we all put our own values, passions, and visions first. Being receptive to other people`s energies, I felt immediately hooked and resonant. It felt like being home, despite only knowing my friend out of 40 people, and I can`t believe that this feeling exists. This feeling of being accepted, supported, and connected, while doing actual work. It`s a working environment I will now seek from today on, a working environment where people share the same values as me (such as compassion, purpose, excitement).

In this fast-paced 30-day course, we have calls every day, except for Fridays, and again after another call yesterday, I could immediately feel, the first minute I was on Zoom, how I turned from being tired to engaged. It was truly inspiring and also an honour to hear about other people`s stories and their journeys, too. And now I am looking forward to our next call today, tomorrow, for the remaining 28 days until our "graduation", which will be a huge joint celebration, I am sure.

All these recent experiences and observations highlight 3 things to me:

  • This feeling of fulfilment at work does exist (I still cannot believe it).

  • Having the right people around you is a game-changer.

  • Following your curiosity creates great experiences and opportunities.

Enjoy revisiting these three aspects in your own life - the other side does exist, and not only for the time of the "honeymoon" period, but for your entire life!

This week`s ...

  • Inspiration: Gabrielle Bernstein - The Universe Has Your Back

  • Reflection: What are my non-negotiable values at work?

  • Intention: I take care of the people around me, and follow my curiosity by e.g. registering for this online session, listening to this interesting podcast, or just listening more to my gut.
